Musical Theater

Led by CMU alumnus and former theater department director Jake Salisbury, this comprehensive program immerses students in all aspects of musical theater. From dialect coaching and vocal training to acting, scene work, dance, and mock auditions, dancers develop the skills needed to shine on any stage.

The curriculum features engaging lessons from real theater professionals and culminates in a fully staged one-act play, giving students invaluable performance experience. Perfect for aspiring Broadway stars, this course nurtures talent, confidence, and a deep love for the craft.
 

LEVELING

Musical Theater 1 (Grades 3–5)
A fun and engaging introduction to musical theater! Students explore acting, singing, and movement through age-appropriate fairytale scenes and songs. This class builds confidence and creativity while introducing stage basics like character work, projection, and simple choreography.
 

Musical Theater 2 (Grades 6–8)
This level deepens performance skills with focused work on vocals, acting technique, and dance. Students begin to explore dialects, script work, and more complex choreography, while learning how to audition and collaborate in an ensemble setting.
 

Musical Theater 3 (Grades 9–12)
Designed for  performers, this class refines all elements of musical theater—from vocal performance and character development to advanced scene work and mock auditions. Guest professionals and intensive training prepare students for the stage—and beyond.
