BALLET
Led by Curriculum Director Natalie Schweikert, EAC’s ballet program provides a structured and engaging approach to classical ballet. Rooted in the Cicchetti Variation, our program ensures consistency across all technical classes. All instructors are trained by Natalie and senior staff to maintain unified terminology and teaching methods.
Dancers learn not only the steps but also the terminology and theory behind them. Periodic ballet exams help instructors assess student progress and tailor lessons accordingly. Each level focuses on specific technical goals to develop strong, well-rounded dancers through every stage of training.
LEVELING
Ballet 1
Instructors: Natalie Schweikert and Audrey Fillmore
An introduction to ballet fundamentals, this class covers basic terminology, beginner jumps, and stationary/traveling turns. Lessons use music and games to build rhythm, counting skills, and musical awareness.
Ballet 2
Instructor: Natalie Schweikert
In a more disciplined setting, students deepen their understanding of ballet vocabulary and technique. Focus is placed on refining single pirouettes, expanding jump combinations, and exploring the "why" behind conditioning and barre.
Ballet 3
Instructor: Natalie Schweikert
This level refines a dancer’s strength and technical ability. Students clean double/triple turns, analyze complex jump sequences, and begin focused conditioning for flexibility and strength. This is the final level before pointe work.
Pre-Pointe
Instructor: Natalie Schweikert
Taken alongside Ballet 3 by instructor approval, Pre-Pointe prepares dancers for pointe shoes. It focuses on foot strength, alignment, and technique. Completion is required for entry into Ballet 4.
Ballet 4 (Performance Pointe)
Instructor: Natalie Schweikert
This advanced class blends full technique training with artistry. Students continue building strength and control through pointe work, while incorporating musicality, expression, and advanced vocabulary.
